I have to say first off that this was not in my opinion the best Tyler Perry movie to date. With that being said I do think he did an impressive job on the film which brought in an impressive $41 million opening weekend.
After the long awaited return, Madea bursts back onto the big screen doing only as Madea can do. This is based on Tyler Perry’s play Madea Goes To Jail and is also a continuation of Meet the Browns which if you remember during that movie she made a bit of a cameo and informed Cora and Mr. Brown that she was going to jail, this movie just shows how it all went down. All I can say is sit back and enjoy the ride.
After the high speed chase lands her back in front of her favorite judge, Judge Mabelean she is sentenced to anger management with Dr. Phil. This treatment is short lived because as everybody knows Madea say she don’t have an anger management problem which leads her to the place that she has been trying to avoid…jail. This movie also features an additional storyline that stars that fine Derek Luke (it’s a shame he’s married, we could’ve had something special…lol) who if you remember made his breakout performance in the movie Antwone Fisher. He plays ADA Joshua Hardaway who encounters troubles of his own when he lands a case too personal for him to handle involving Candace Washington (Keshia Knight Pulliam) a prostitute and former drug addict so he hands the case over to his fiancé (Ion Overman). Now ya’ll know no woman is just gonna take the case without asking any questions on how her fiancé knows this prostitute, that’s where the trouble begins when she sends Candace to jail. Madea befriends young Candace and gives her that motherly affection as only Madea can do.
This is a great movie to see if you want some laughs and receive a good message all at the same time. Also I have to make mention of Viola Davis who delivers another remarkable performance, this woman I am waiting for her to receive the acknowledgement that she deserves. Okay well that is K’s take on it, go out and see it.
Rating: ***….PLEASE DON’T WATCH THE BOOTLEG…GO OUT AND SUPPORT TYLER PERRY!!!!
